Collegiate Life at St. Isidore’s
A collegiate farm
The most distinctive aspect of collegiate life at St. Isidore’s is the farm, but the farm itself is in some ways only a manifestation or embodiment of something less visible about our collegiate life, something difficult to articulate. Indeed, the union of farm and classroom necessitates an orderly plan of life, a real community, and of course a unique campus.
Plan of Life
In many ways, our plan of life at St. Isidore’s holds together the various components of what makes us who and what we are. The best campus and curriculum are nothing if the community residing in them does not come together every day in a common life devoted to seeking the good, the true, and the beautiful.
Community
The words “college” and “university” assume (and together form) the word “community.” At St. Isidore’s, we prioritize community by having every member of the college reside on our collegiate farm–where we live, eat, pray, work, play, and study together.
Campus
The campus is clearly an integral part of any college or university, for it gives a physical actuality to the various educational and relational realities that the institution aspires to make present in the world. At St. Isidore’s, our campus is especially integral to our collegiate life because here we literally draw our life from the land on which we live and pray and work and play and study together.
