Catholic Land Exchange

What We Seek to Offer

Our primary goal is to offer community, which begins by forming connections that hopefully will lead to true friendships, and the most important connections and communities we seek to foster are those between people with real estate they would like to pass on to people they can trust to treat it well and people who would like to live and raise their families on agricultural and/or forested land but would struggle to be able to procure or afford such land by their own means.

To support the formation of those connections and communities, we seek to offer a robust community of professionals (financial planners, tax consultants, accountants, attorneys, real estate agents, etc.) who value such transfers of real estate and are willing to contribute their professional services, hopefully either pro bono or for reduced fees, to facilitate such transfers; we propose that those professionals who assist with a particular exchange of land do so on terms similar to those divesting themselves of the land (offering their services pro bono if the land is to be donated, at a reduced rate if the land is being sold for less than its fair market value, or at fair market value if the land is being sold at such a rate).

Finally, to facilitate and encourage the formation of all these relationships we seek to provide communities for landowners and land-seekers respectively, forums for discussion and support between and among those people who wish to pass their land along to new stewards and those seeking a home for themselves and their families, avenues for asking questions about the process of transferring land, etc.
